The rust on a car and the U.K

As everyone knows UK is know for the weather. What we know is that we don’t know what it’s going to be like.
What does this mean,  it’s simple depending on the year of your car your going to have rust due to extreme and wild temperatures from rain,  sun,  cold, and back to rain,  sometimes several times during the day.
If like me your thinking what to do then you have some choices.

1.buy new panels and replace them with the ones that have rust.
2.get the particular  body panel treated and then painted by a body worker.
3.ignore.

For certain cars like the Mercedes c class before 2000.  This model range was not galvanised and the only body treatment was paint.

This was not a problem,  until the paint got scratched and left untreated. This would then turn to paint bubble like a star and start to rot inside out and at some point u will notice orange or bronze rust colour.

Remember the one golden rule rust never goes, all you can so is keep it at bay really well.

Replacing body panels is a good way of doing this but then you have to take into consideration the cost. Remember if you can buy a second panel of same colour from ebay and when you do make sure it’s rust free. This will save money in paint,  colour mismatch usually and guaranteed to fit.

If there difference in cost is about £50 still replace as long term the rest free panel will cause let issues.

Always be careful and mindful of rust need door edges,  windscreen edges,  locks,  as it will spread and make certain parts of the car weaker.

Always look at part specialists who can advice and always shop around for best price.

For now I will let this information sink in and write up Second part tommorow.
